How do I know when testing is due for my extinguishers?

Q. How do I know when testing is due for my extinguishers? 

A. The qualified personnel will check for the testing due date while he is performing yearly maintenance. The qualified personnel will be able to identify the last test date on the body of the extinguisher and advice you accordingly. 


Q. Can I check the due date by myself? 

A. If you are able to identify the last test date, you can read it off the base or the neck of the extinguisher. 

However, it is still recommended to get advice from the the qualified personnel: Over time, standards change, different manufacturers come and go, every manufacturer has a different method of identifying the last test date. Not many buildings have extinguishers that belong to the same manufacturer, and sometimes even the manufacturer changes the way the label the date.
